Tall Jack
using Bisquit bottles |
|
I don't even remember where we found
these cognac bottles
but they were such a great shape
that we held on to them
for several years. Now I know they
were meant to be used
as an armature for an unusual Jack
O' Lantern.

One naked,
one covered with aluminum foil and masking tape.
|
3 layers of strips. The bottom isn't
covered . Hoping if I leave it open, I can slide
him right off the top. |
 |
 |
If you draw the face on first, you
can put the pulp around it so there's less to cut
through later. Three slits
had to be cut in the bottom to get it out. The bottom
curved too much to just slip it out.
Foil and tape are still attached
to the bottle for the next one. Any small tears will be
patched with more tape. |

Covered with layer of pulp.
Cover it all over to desired thickness, then add stripes
and pinch into desired shape. |
From
the side. The paint brush is used to prop up his
stem/topknot. |
Dry
brushed with yellow and orange and eyes are painted
solid yellow. Had to get my fingers in to get all the
nooks and crannies. His inside is spray painted purple. |

Went to the store and got some less
expensive red paint after I realized I was paying for
premium paint and could do with cheaper paint.
I put too much red on, so brushed
a little more orange over it all. When I get some green
paint, I may outline the eyes and paint the teeth.
Paints I'm using are exterior
house paints. I really hate having to go back and add a
sealer, so figured exterior paint would eliminate the
need. All are matte or satin finish.s |
