Cat Project 3
September 16, 2007
1. The pattern was glued
onto one half of a cereal box and allowed to dry. When
dry, it was attached to the back of the cereal box with
clothespins while the second piece was cut out. The
sides of the box were cut off, then cut in half
lengthwise and taped around the edge of one pattern
piece. As one end was reached, it was taped to the new
piece securely before continuing around the edge.
2. Close-up of inside of
the tail section. This was the hardest part and took a
lot of persuasion to get the cardboard to bend
correctly. You can see it doesn't stand up straight, but
that will be corrected when the second pattern piece is
taped on.
3. The other side of the
pattern with most of the cardboard sides taped on.
4. The whole thing all
taped up. To keep the sides from caving in, newspaper
was stuffed in and that small part of the cat taped.
Legs were done first, then up the body, poking in
scrunched newspaper as each section was taped. The tail
took several lengths of twisted paper that were laid in
one on top of the other. The part that met the body was
taped first, then the curve of the tail followed around
to the inside, easing as needed.
